Chester, PA -
Partnerships to Provide Unique Opportunities
for Area Youth Soccer Community
Philadelphia Union would like to recognize and thank all of the youth soccer clubs in the Philadelphia region that have shown their support leading up to the inaugural 2010 season. Building off of the strong relationships established with EPYSA, DYSA and YSC Sports, partnerships have been forged with a number of local area clubs that understand the value and unique benefits of partnering with a Major League Soccer club.
Developing relationships with local youth soccer programs has been an integral part of Philadelphia Union’s plan since the organization entered the market. With less than a month to go until First Kick, Philadelphia Union are proud to announce that 18 clubs have already signed on as partners.

“The variety (of benefits) provide a lot of value across many fronts - from the Player Appearances, Chalk Talks for our coaches, clinics, raffle items, exposure for NPAA and those memorable gameday experiences have such value,” said John Brennan, VP of NPAA Soccer. “One that comes to mind though is the ability to provide our youth players -- from the youngest intramural player to the U18 premier player -- tickets to each of the Union’s home games. These tickets will allow our players to see what professional players are doing just 10 minutes from their school yard. That will be the stuff of dreams for these children.”
Partnerships include Coaching Clinics, Player Clinics, Game Day Experiences (Ball Boys/Player Escorts), Club recognition at PPL Park and other unique opportunities. All packages include season tickets, which provide youth players with the ability to see and learn the game at a world class level.
“The German American Kickers of Trenton, NJ are looking forward to the inaugural season of the Philadelphia Union,” said Nick Wiener, Jr., GAK Chairman. “We are very pleased with our seat selection and the intimacy that PPL Park will provide. Some of our seats will be raffled off as a fundraiser at our club events, and others will be distributed to our youth teams.”
Clubs of all different sizes have realized the importance of establishing a relationship with the area’s new professional team. These clubs have seen immense value in connecting with the local heroes of the game to provide young players with dreams of one day playing for Philadelphia Union.
“Overall, the partnership gives the M.O.T. Soccer Club a unique chance to truly bond with the Union right from the start of the franchise,” said Jay Ziminsky, President of MOT Soccer Club. “We will use the season tickets for several purposes. First, we plan to reward some of our Board Members and other volunteers for their extraordinary efforts in helping our Club run in an effective manner. In addition, we plan to offer tickets at coach-related meetings as an attendance incentive, raffle the tickets as part of Club fundraisers, and coordinate group outings for our members.
"Having a Club jersey on display at PPL Park as well as having the club’s name recognized on the Jumbotron are other benefits that will enhance our members’ game day experience. Through the clinics and Chalk Talks, our coaches will also get a chance to learn new ways to improve their coaching techniques or reinforce ones that both the Union and they use. Overall, the partnership is a “win-win” arrangement for the Union and the M.O.T. Soccer Club.”
For youth soccer clubs in the region, partnerships with Philadelphia Union offer a combination of tangible benefits and inspiring experiences that will drive youth players to create goals and work hard to achieve them.
“The partnership was a no brainer,” said Pat Henigan, Director of Player Development for Marple Newtown Soccer Association. “There will never be more soccer buzz and excitement in the area than the next coming months with the opening of the MLS season followed up by the World Cup. As a club, it was incumbent upon us to help our players and parents participate in the excitement.
"The partnership will allow MNSA as an organization to ride the wave of excitement of having an MLS team playing locally in a first class soccer environment to foster our institutional goal of teaching love of the game to the members of our club. The players have responded incredibly well to training sessions run by professional players and the opportunity to observe and emulate players at the highest national level will raise the awareness level of the skills and work required to excel.”
