The All-Star program is designed for intramural players who demonstrate the ability to play at a more competitive level and is willing to extend their soccer season. The players are involved because they have their parents support and want to play more soccer at a higher level without a travel team commitment. The TYA All-Star program can be a wonderful experience for both the coaches and the players.
TYA is committed to the development of the players through programs that will increase their skills and their knowledge of the game. The All-star program is a step on that ladder. The growth of the TYA Soccer program will continue as long as children come to play. We as parents and coaches must continue to challenge and teach our children through offering opportunities in the game.
What is needed to make the All-star program successful? Getting players is the easy part. Getting coaches is the challenge. We are looking for a solid coaching staff that is interested, like your children, in soccer at a higher level BUT without the time commitment of a travel team.
How are the teams selected? Depends on how many teams are in your child’s division. The selections must be turned into the All-Star coordinator by picture day. These players form an age appropriate All-Star team to participate in 2-3 tournaments specifically for intramural All-Star teams.
So, what is expected of the coach? A working knowledge of the game is recommended. The coaches will be provided their rosters after picture day. The coaches are responsible for preparing their team by contacting each player and scheduling practices that will begin after the end of season intramural tournament. Coaches work with the All-Star coordinator to schedule fields and times for practices, select tournaments and outfit players.

The TYA All-star program can be a wonderful experience for you. The children are involved because they WANT to play; the parents are involved because they BELIEVE in what the players and coaches can do. It is time for YOU to believe that you can make a difference and give back to those players who deserve this challenge.
